In the heart of the Wetterstein Mountains reveals a jewel of incomparable beauty – the Eibsee. For each photo spot, all the important information is clearly summarized so that you have to spend as little time as possible for research. Each spot appears with the exact GPS coordinates and a QR code to get started right away. The camera settings used are also indicated for each photo.
For photography in the Bavarian Alps, I recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses to capture different perspectives. However, the new smartphones are also already very suitable. A tripod can usually be dispensed with when hiking for reasons of space. Don’t forget to take enough batteries and memory cards with you, as you will surely take many pictures in the midst of the breathtaking landscape.
Each season has its own unique charm. Spring brings blooming flowers and green meadows, summer offers clear lakes and long days, autumn brings a spectacular display of colors and winter wraps the Alps in a picturesque dress of snow. It depends on your personal preferences which season you prefer.
In general, photography is allowed and unproblematic in the Bavarian Alps. However, there are some nature reserves and private properties where photography might be restricted. Always respect other people’s privacy and nature conservation guidelines. Also, strictly observe no-fly zones for drones and leave wildlife space and peace.
There are many impressive photo spots in the Bavarian Alps. Among the most popular are Neuschwanstein Castle, the Eibsee, the summit of the Jenner, the Zugspitze, the Walchensee and the Partnachklamm. These places offer spectacular scenery and breathtaking backdrops for photographers. The best time for landscape photos is usually during the golden hour – just after sunrise and just before sunset. The light is softer during this time and creates a warm atmosphere. Also take advantage of long exposures and experiment with different settings to get unique shots.
Make sure you check out the weather and hiking trails before you head out. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear as the weather can change quickly in the Alps. Also, research the best photo spots in advance and plan your time carefully to get the most out of your photo trip.
The Bavarian Alps can be both beautiful and challenging. Take care of your safety and stay on marked trails. Keep an eye on the weather and avoid dangerous situations. Carry enough water and snacks with you, especially if you are going to be out for a long time.
